The Future of Prisoner Resettlement in Mauritius

'not a number' hosted an event with 3 expert speakers on the topic of prisoner resettlement. The aim was to provide different perspectives on the existing challenges and potential solutions. These 3 perspectives included academia/research, an NGO practitioner and a representative from the Mauritius Prison Service.
The resettlement pathways framework and theoretical background were presented by 'not a number'.
Our guest speakers shared their knowledge and perspectives on current trends/initiatives. They also offered their insights and recommendations in regard to the future of resettlement in Mauritius.  Attendees included barristers, NGO staff, prison staff, therapists, students, and religious bodies.

ALU - Session on Age & Crime/Resettlement - Theory to Practice:

Not A Number delivered a two-hour interactive session on age & crime as well as resettlement to second year sociology students at the African Leadership University. The session looked at the age-crime curve, career criminals, criminogenic factors and resettlement. It also covered how these theoretical approaches can be used when designing crime prevention and offender resettlement projects. 'not a number' gave concrete examples of their own projects where these theories are being applied.

WORKSHOPS
Resettlement

There are some excellent examples of prisoner resettlement around the world.  During this session, we provide you with a brief theoretical foundation to resettlement before taking you on a journey through some best practice examples, with an analysis of their setup and success.

WORKSHOPS

We deliver a number of workshops and develop tailor-made ones upon request.  We are currently designing capacity building workshops around topics related to crime prevention and offender resettlement.  Examples of workshops that we have already delivered can be found  on the left.
